wp-config Manager

Edit wp-config.php Constants Safely From Your Dashboard

wp-config.php controls debugging, memory, updates and security on your site. The WPIDE Config Manager lists every constant in it and lets you change them one at a time, without opening the file.

Changing wp-config.php constants in the WPIDE Config Manager

Why use the WPIDE wp-config Manager

Every constant at a glance

See all the constants defined in wp-config.php and their values.

Add, change, remove

Turn on debugging or raise the memory limit in a form, not in raw PHP.

No duplicates

A constant defined twice causes warnings; WPIDE refuses to add one that exists.

The constants you will change most

A few lines in wp-config.php solve many everyday problems. With the Config Manager you set them from the dashboard:

  • WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG to find the cause of an error
  • WP_MEMORY_LIMIT when a plugin runs out of memory
  • WP_POST_REVISIONS to limit stored revisions
  • DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT to turn off the built-in theme and plugin editors
  • AUTOMATIC_UPDATER_DISABLED and WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE to control updates

Need the whole file?

For changes beyond constants, advanced mode opens wp-config.php and WordPress core files in the WPIDE code editor, with the same PHP checks and backups as any other file.

wp-config Manager questions

How do I turn on WP_DEBUG?

Open the Config Manager in WPIDE, set WP_DEBUG to true, and add WP_DEBUG_LOG set to true to write errors to wp-content/debug.log. Turn both off again when you are done.

In the root folder of your WordPress installation, next to wp-admin and wp-content. Some hosts move it one folder up for security; WordPress finds it there too.

The wp-config Manager is in every paid plan.
