Rename Any Admin Menu Item
Renames admin menu entries to words your team understands, such as "Appearance" to "Design" or a plugin's menu to "Bookings", without touching the plugin.

// Keep counters such as "Comments <span class="awaiting-mod">3</span>".
$plain = trim( wp_strip_all_tags( preg_replace( '/<span.*$/s', '', $label ) ) );
return isset( $wpide_menu_labels[ $plain ] ) ? str_replace( $plain, $wpide_menu_labels[ $plain ], $label ) : $label;
};
foreach ( (array) $menu as $i => $item ) {
$menu[ $i ][0] = $rename( $item[0] );
}
foreach ( (array) $submenu as $parent => $items ) {
foreach ( $items as $i => $item ) {
$submenu[ $parent ][ $i ][0] = $rename( $item[0] );
}
}
}, 999 );
Notes
Use the exact current label as the key; submenu items are renamed too. Screen titles inside plugins keep their own wording.
