Snippets for multilingual sites: language switchers, translated strings and per-language behavior with WPML, Polylang and similar plugins. For sites that serve readers in more than one language.
Gives posts created outside the editor, for example by importers, cron jobs, forms or the REST API, the default Polylang language when they have none, so they do not vanish from language-filtered lists.
Uses a different date and time format for each language, such as 27 October 2026 in British English and 27. Oktober 2026 in German, whenever the site or user language changes.
Adds a small window.wpideLang object with the current locale, language code and text direction, so your scripts can format dates, numbers or messages correctly without guessing.
Adds a [wpide_money] shortcode that formats an amount in a currency using the conventions of the current language, like $1,234.50, 1.234,50 € or ¥1,235.
