Snippet Library
Snippets that make WordPress lighter and faster: remove emoji scripts and embeds, control the Heartbeat API, limit revisions and load scripts only where they are needed. For developers and site owners chasing better Core Web Vitals.
Adds width and height attributes to images in your posts that lack them (for example images pasted from other sites or old posts), using the real image file size, which prevents layout jumps while pages load.
Sends Cache-Control headers on public pages for logged-out visitors, so a CDN or proxy can cache them for a few minutes.
Replaces embedded Google Maps in your content with a placeholder that loads the map only when clicked, for faster pages and fewer third-party cookies.
Stops the cart fragments script, which fires an extra uncached AJAX request on every page, everywhere except the shop, product, cart and checkout pages.
Permanently removes trashed posts, pages and comments after 7 days instead of 30, keeping the database lean.
Lets WordPress print more of the small per-block stylesheets directly in the page instead of as separate files, which saves several network requests on pages with many different blocks.
Tells WordPress's built-in speculative loading (prefetching pages on hover) to skip cart, checkout and account pages, which are personal, never cached and expensive to build, so hovering over their links no longer costs server time.
Keeps Contact Form 7 scripts and styles off every page except those that contain a form, removing two requests from most pages.
Stops the threaded comments script from loading on pages that have no open comments or where threading is turned off.
Removes the password strength meter script (about 400 KB with its dictionary) from every page except the account, checkout and password reset pages where customers actually choose a password.
Records front-end URLs that run more database queries than a limit you set, with the query count and load time, and lists the worst offenders under Tools > Heavy Pages.
Adds a prefetch hint for the next page of blog archives, category pages and multi-page posts, so it opens almost instantly when visitors click "Next".
Adds a "Preload hero image" field to the post and page editor; when filled in with an image URL, that image is preloaded with high priority on that page, improving Largest Contentful Paint for pages whose main image is not the featured image.
Upgrades WordPress speculative loading (6.8+) from prefetch to prerender with moderate eagerness, so pages open almost instantly after a hover.
Drops the jQuery Migrate compatibility script from public pages. Only use it when your theme and plugins work with current jQuery.
Rewrites the URLs of your uploads, theme and plugin files to a CDN or pull-zone domain you set, so images, CSS and JavaScript are delivered from the CDN while pages are still served by your site.
Adds a Server-Timing header with PHP time, database query count and peak memory to pages viewed by administrators, so you can read the numbers in your browser's developer tools Network tab.
Uses the CSS content-visibility property so browsers skip laying out the comments section, footer and related posts until the visitor scrolls near them, which speeds up rendering of long pages.
Returns a "not found" page for archive pages beyond page 50 (such as /page/873/) for logged-out visitors, which keeps bots from hammering your database with very slow deep pagination queries.
Prevents Elementor from requesting fonts from Google's servers, for faster pages and fewer third-party connections.
Removes the scripts and styles you list from every page except the ones you choose, for plugins that load their files site-wide.
