Site Title and Tagline Per Language

Shows a different site title and tagline for each language the site is displayed in, without a translation plugin, by mapping locales to text.

Code

$wpide_titles = array( // Locale => array( title, tagline ).
    'fr_FR' => array( 'Mon Site', 'Le meilleur du web' ),
    'de_DE' => array( 'Meine Website', 'Das Beste aus dem Netz' ),
);

if ( ! is_admin() ) {
    add_filter( 'option_blogname', function ( $value ) use ( $wpide_titles ) {
        $locale = determine_locale();
        return ! empty( $wpide_titles[ $locale ][0] ) ? $wpide_titles[ $locale ][0] : $value;
    } );

    add_filter( 'option_blogdescription', function ( $value ) use ( $wpide_titles ) {
        $locale = determine_locale();
        return ! empty( $wpide_titles[ $locale ][1] ) ? $wpide_titles[ $locale ][1] : $value;
    } );
}

Notes

Works with any locale switcher, including the ?lang= snippet. The dashboard keeps the original values so they can still be edited.
