Remove Block Theme Styles From Classic Themes
Stops classic (non-block) themes from loading the global styles, classic theme styles and duotone SVG filters that WordPress adds for block themes, saving inline CSS on every page.
Opens WPIDE on
Code
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', function () {
if ( wp_is_block_theme() ) {
return;
}
wp_dequeue_style( 'global-styles' );
wp_dequeue_style( 'classic-theme-styles' );
wp_dequeue_style( 'core-block-supports-duotone' );
}, 100 );
add_action( 'init', function () {
if ( function_exists( 'wp_is_block_theme' ) && ! wp_is_block_theme() ) {
remove_action( 'wp_body_open', 'wp_global_styles_render_svg_filters' );
remove_action( 'wp_footer', 'wp_enqueue_global_styles', 1 );
}
} );
Notes
Only runs on classic themes; check that buttons and colors set in the editor still look right after enabling it.
