Keep Filtered and Sorted Shop Pages Out of Search Engines

Adds noindex to shop pages that have sorting, price or attribute filters in the URL, so search engines index your real category pages instead of thousands of variations.

Code

add_filter( 'wp_robots', function ( $robots ) {
    if ( ! function_exists( 'is_woocommerce' ) || ! ( is_shop() || is_product_taxonomy() ) ) {
        return $robots;
    }

    foreach ( array_keys( $_GET ) as $key ) { // phpcs:ignore WordPress.Security.NonceVerification
        if ( in_array( $key, array( 'orderby', 'min_price', 'max_price', 'rating_filter', 'query_type' ), true ) || 0 === strpos( (string) $key, 'filter_' ) ) {
            $robots['noindex'] = true;
            $robots['follow']  = true;
            unset( $robots['index'] );
            break;
        }
    }

    return $robots;
} );

Notes

Links on those pages are still followed, and normal shop, category and paginated pages are not affected.
